The Reconstruction of the Universe

I.

Sister, don’t leave.
It’s the brown hair we share
that confused God.
I’m the one who drags forests
through deserts
and put a curse on wine at weddings.

Our eyes see the same colors. Our figures
touch books and feel
grass.
Sister, life is perfect: perfect without
your feet in the earth.
I would rather watch the night explode into ghosts
then see you go.
I can’t trace the oceans with my nudity
Unless you cause the rain.

I will leave my mother –
just like our father
decades ago.

My evil is in your blood.
my love is in your breath.
I think my mother wants us both to die.

Her spies are everywhere,
and I am speaking through the internet.
my mother is after your organs.
she wants to toss her sexy eyes all over the place.

II.

I had a nightmare
that my sister rose from the dead
Her cancer dissipated into the sky
like steam rising from her breast.

But the cancer became clouds that rained on everyone.
And my sister cried without realizing
that her grave was a hollow bubble in the mud.

When she came to town, crowds cheered.
Prayers had been answered!
They drank the rain, and danced naked.
They smeared the mud between their legs
and rejoiced.
My sister stared at me with my clothes
still on.

When the tulips never bloomed
she had to do it.
in the bathroom, she smeared her blood across the mirror
and asked me to watch her die.

Now I can’t remember
if it was cancer or a knife
that made her leave.
